Yep we are still here!

So some people have asked if we are still going! Well we are and we are stronger than ever. It looks like Thursday will go full court soon and if we get enough interest there should be a girls only session in time.

Come and join in (see Club Info to the right) - Jon

PBC beat London Korea 95 – 81 7 *NEWS*

Thank you to everyone who played last week in the game and the practice sessions. We had a great turnout and some great ball played.

I am very please to say that PBC won the Korean game 95 – 81 with the big damage being done in the fourth quarter when the leading lights blew a tiring Korean side away, I watched from the side lines and learned :o)

The game did throw up an interesting point that we now need to address. PBC is a growing success and since we started close on a year and a half ago we have helped literally 100’s of people to play.

As a result of that success and a growing roll call we now have a disparate set of reasons for why people play from just keeping fit to wanting to play at the highest league levels age and skill might allow! For this reason I need to start looking to grade games. People that sign up to games (and any session) need to have expectations of that session or game that we can try and meet. So here goes on our new game/session coding:

- Regular Tuesday session : Full court focused on zones defence. All will play an even part
- Regular Thursday session : Half court typically higher standard focused on man marking. All will play an even part
- ‘A’ grade games : Games where PBC will nominate a captain for the night who will call the subs. The focus will be on winning and if you having a bad game you will likely have less court time. This will be the senior PBC team and will be the one we look to get into a league
- ‘B’ grade games : Games were PBC will nominate a captain or I will run where the mandate is first and foremost to ensure that all listed play as even a part as possible. We want to win but this level is basketball for all and not just our superstars.
- Panthers games : These are managed and run by Simon Hester and are affiliated to PBC in that they use many PBC listed player. They are to a high standard and played to win. You should contact Simon for these.

So after all that we have again been challenged by Korea on Thursday. We will make this weeks an A grade game so please come along and win it again !!

Match, Thursday 11th 2009 v's London Korea

The Putney Foxes have been challenged to a game against some old friends of ours the London Koreans! This motley band of Korean expats played with us in many training sessions in the past so we know them well.

The format will be one full court game over 2 hours split into four quarters of 25 minutes each. The date is soon, THIS THURSDAY, 11th June 2009 at the Roehampton centre starting at 7pm with tip off at 7:05pm and ending at 9pm.
There will be 10 in each squad with rolling subs throughout the game. The cost will be £5 each as a one off. Squad will be selected from those available via Team Snap. If you are playing in the session after (the normal Thursday session) please remember that this will still run… likely at a slower pace!

All details will be posted to the team website at http://putneybasketball.posterous.com/ so please head there for updates.

If you would like to be considered for selection please make yourself available for this match via Team Snap NOW!

Fw: Putney Panthers WIN!

Putney Panthers WIN!

Hi All,

Thanks to everyone who showed up yesterday, I can honestly say that everyone who played had a solid game. We moved the ball around well. So we are now 1-0! Lets keep the level and commitment up and lets go for an unblemished season! 10-0! I am looking at the summer league as a warm up for the winter league, getting everyone on the same page and going from there. But to be honest if we perform like we did Sunday we are fav to win it. Anyone who wants to play next weekend (17th) please email me before Thursday. We ran two units in our 1st game, 5 on 5 off every five mins, and it worked. Everyone got a good run and both units played just aswell as the other. So I am hoping to get a maxium of 10 each week and a min of 8. Obviously we have 12 on the sheet but I am sure everyone cant make every week.

If I dont see you on Thursday, see you Sunday.

** PBC NEWS **

- NEW SIGN UP PROCESS For at least the next month we will be switching to use http://www.teamsnap.com for signing up to play. I will still send out the team list (which will be selected from those available with the most regular players and those who have no debts at the head of the list). I will NOT send out the invitation to play email.

Please make sure you have logged into TeamSnap and registered.

- DE-LISTING PLAYERS I will be using the switch to the new system to de-list players that never respond. We have over 100 people listed many of which we have never seen or heard from again. From now on if I hear nothing from someone for over 3 months they are liable to be taken off the lists so as to reduce mail.

- TEAM SNAP MAIL I will deliberately send this mail twice (once as normal and once through TeamSnap) please ensure you receive both copies as the TeamSnap mail ID may be directed to your spam folders. You should white list the domain teamsnap.com

See you Tuesday (I hope!)

Hi Jon,

I am cool with that as long as it does not happen within our playing time. Most of us get there 20mins before our session so we could do it then. Tuesday nights are short enough sessions as it is so I dont think that night would be a good idea. There is another team that plays in Victoria and have a long training session. If you need there details let me know.

Thanks

Simon

We have had a request from Steve Tayloy at London Metropolitan University for some help on his final year project.... He wants to measure you!

He requires15 volunteers, they would be split into 3 groups of 5 each doing a seperate and different warm-up to the next group - the warm-up will take 10 minutes to complete. Once warmed up the group will perform the agility test 3 times per person to get an average reading. This would be carried on each session.

Please can you contact Steve direct if you would like to be involved. We will aim to get this done BEFORE each session. Likely we will start with the Tuesday night people as there is more space and we can run a half cour at the other end for 10 mins while Steve does his stuff.
