PBC News - Final year project Volunteers Wanted

We have had a request from Steve Tayloy at London Metropolitan University for some help on his final year project.... He wants to measure you!

He requires15 volunteers, they would be split into 3 groups of 5 each doing a seperate and different warm-up to the next group - the warm-up will take 10 minutes to complete. Once warmed up the group will perform the agility test 3 times per person to get an average reading. This would be carried on each session.

Please can you contact Steve direct if you would like to be involved. We will aim to get this done BEFORE each session. Likely we will start with the Tuesday night people as there is more space and we can run a half cour at the other end for 10 mins while Steve does his stuff.

PBC in the snow

Are we playing this week after the snow?

I have been asked a couple of times if we are playing tomorrow and generally this week if the weather stays 'interesting'. Well the answer is for sure YES! That is assuming the gym is open. At the moment it looks like over night will be more rain than snow but I will advise by midday if the gym informs me they are closing.

News - New List Process For Tuesday's

Thanks to everyone that played tonight. It was a great run out. Now that the Tuesday night is running well we have decided to limit the numbers. From now on Tuesday will be limited to 15 with the Thursday staying at 12.

We will send out list requests in the same way for both Tuesday and Thursday. The same rules on those not showing will apply.

2009 Thursday's off to a flyer

So the first Thursday back and another fantastic turnout. The likely lads in the shot are from the back left Martial, Tomasz, Guy, Ed, Ryan, Chris, Jung, Bahram, Jose (from the US so the team are having to teach him the rules), Simon and of course Pasquale.

I make that at lest 7 nations represented that I know of. I think Tomasz is from the Kings Road (hence the Chelski top) where they spell everything with z's like 'giz uz two pintz guv'

The 12th member of that evenings squad was Anita who insisted on tying to avoid the camera and ran off with the ball :o)

Back on the court

Thanks to everyone who made the first Tuesday session back such a great success. We had a huge turn out and uncovered some new stars. I took a few rough shots. I know we will take better ones in the future.

For now lets admire Pasquale's ability to look like he is out for a stroll in Naples whilst hitting 3 point after 3 point.

Welcome to 2009 Putney Basketball! - First day back Tuesday 6th Jan

Welcome to 2009 Putney Basketball!

I hope the turkey and pudding will not slow you all down too much (though it might give me a chance against Pasquale).

We start on Tuesday night with the open session running as normal from 9:30 till 10:30. Please all do try and come along and lets make this a busy year for the club.

This and all announcements will now go to our new blog at http://putneybasketball.posterous.com/ There will be pictures and I hope video. Please do contribute. You can comment and if people are keen they can be added as ‘poster’

Wandsworth Council have also identified our club as one they would like to help build up so I will be going along to a meeting with them in the next weeks to see what (if anything) that means. Reports to follow.

Plans for 09 include

- Get bibs sorted so we can swap teams faster!

- Improve the showing on Tuesdays and identify someone to run that session when I am not available

- If numbers allow agree a formal team for invite games

- Review again the league options
